Wansbeck Voices Community Choir was established in 2012 by founder Richard Scott with a simple, powerful vision: to create a place where anyone could come together and experience the joy of singing.

From its very beginning, the choir's ethos has been built on inclusivity, friendship, and fun. We firmly believe that the opportunity to sing, laugh, and connect with others should be accessible to all, regardless of musical experience.

Today, Wansbeck Voices remains dedicated to that original spirit. We are a non-auditioned, welcoming community that finds immense pleasure in performing a diverse, enjoyable repertoire—from local favourites to popular hits. Our core mission is simple: to keep the music light-hearted and the sense of community strong, making every Wednesday night the highlight of your week!

Meet the Musical Director

Neil Morton is delighted to be celebrating his first year in post as the Musical Director of Wansbeck Voices. He is excited to continue working with this dedicated community choir, building upon the strong foundation established when the choir was first formed by Richard Scott in 2012.

Neil is a passionate believer in community music and music for everybody. He sees the Wansbeck Voices rehearsals—held every Wednesday night at the Choppington Welfare—not only as a chance to perfect their sound but as a crucial source of fun and community spirit for all its members.

Under Neil's direction, the choir looks forward to further expanding its repertoire and sharing the joy of music with audiences across the North East.
